Windows GR 2020
In response to the murder of George Floyd, police brutality and peaceful protests, turned riots Windows GR formed as a collaborative, community driven project led by Element 7, Lions and Rabbits, Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. Over 200 local artists came together to share their voices and stories through mural art on boarded up windows across the city. Each artist was paid $100 per board painted, raising over $20,000 in funds to local artists.

Jasmine Bruce was one of seven artist liaisons that led Windows GR. She found strength, courage and a voice during the iconic project.
She hit the ground running, directed artists, and even found time to contribute by painting a mural for this project. Her mural was a collaboration with artists Kendall Redmon and PJ Moffet that was located on the boarded up windows of Grand Rapids Art Museum.
Where to find this project: You can still find Windows GR paintings on display at Grand Valley State University, Grand Rapids Public Museum, Aquinas College, Grand Rapids African American Museum of Arts and more.
Free Alchemy Studio also hosts a portion of the collection that will continue to be preserved and exhibited to ensure story never dies.
