Mend
Year: 2020
Medium: Exterior Latex
Artist Statement: Wake Up, It is time to heal. Our vision for this mural is to embody the need to cleanse, mend and grow from the depths of our own suffering. To restore nutrients which lies in the earth, in our words, in patience and awareness. This healing is something that has been hidden from us for so long and so well we nearly realized the power lie within ourselves until it hit us right in the face. A power to create our own reality.
More About the Mural:
This is a collaborative mural a part of the public art initiative After Dark GR 2020. It was designed and installed by artists Jasmine Bruce, Nina Lu, Anya Potter, Kendall Redmon and Jamari Taylor. It intends to create an energy of healing in the surrounding neighborhood. Lighter, vibrant colors melded each of their styles together in a harmonize and emphasize diversity. Some of the imagery touches on the businesses that lie within, water/fish for the aquarium and a Bodhi tree honoring the Buddhist temple.
